How did you get started in cycling?
Cycling initially started as a complement to my main sport, which was running. However, being able to practice it with people around me made me fall in love with it, and it eventually became one of the main sports in my life.
What type of cycling do you practice?
I started with mountain biking but quickly realized that road cycling was my true passion. Now, I exclusively practice road cycling.
What is your AURUM bike? Why did you choose it?
I ride an Essentia. It’s the perfect balance between a bike that offers enjoyment and one that delivers performance when needed. As a pilot, I don’t seek to compete at a professional level; instead, I look for a complement to an already demanding career, and this bike fits perfectly into my lifestyle.
Do you have a favourite route? Which one and why?
Yes, there’s a route close to where I live that offers the most beautiful views: the Ratpenat climb in Garraf. It’s challenging, with slopes up to 21%, but the entire way up provides stunning sea views and forces you to clear your mind. Reaching the top after such a demanding climb is the best reward.
How do you prepare for a ride? Do you have a special routine?
A must for me is a specialty coffee at home before heading out. In my case, it’s two shots of espresso with a bit of oat milk, known as a “flat white.”
What other sports do you practice to complement cycling?
I run on trails and roads, do gym workouts, and practice yoga.
How do you manage nutrition before and after a ride?
I eat a balanced diet without following a strict regimen. I believe in listening to my body, eating a variety of foods, and being mindful. Before a ride, I eat something to give me energy, drink plenty of water during the ride, and bring a snack. Afterward, I make sure to have some protein!
Do you have any advice for those looking to buy their first bike?
Get a proper ergonomic fitting to ensure that your new bike feels like an extension of your own body.
How has cycling influenced your social life?
It has greatly improved it. Running is a very individual sport, but in cycling, riding in groups is one of the best parts.
How do you avoid injuries? Do you have a warm-up routine?
For me, strength training and stretching through yoga are essential for being able to engage in dynamic outdoor sports.
Is there a cyclist you admire? Why?
There are many professional cyclists I admire, but on a personal level, my partner has been the one who introduced me to cycling and has helped me improve and learn in this discipline.
