AURUM Bikes and Team Polti VisitMalta at the 2025 Giro D’Italia – for the fifth consecutive year

The high-performance bike brand founded by Alberto Contador and Ivan Basso in September 2020 will be once again, for the fifth year in a row, at the start line of the Giro d’Italia — one of the three Grand Tours and without a doubt one of the most beautiful and demanding races on the WorldTour calendar.
The Corsa Rosa, celebrating its 108th edition in 2025, has long been the proving ground where cycling legends are born. From Coppi and Bartali to Indurain, Pantani, Nibali, and of course, Basso and Contador himself — who won all three of his Giro appearances — this race embodies the spirit of epic cycling, resilience, and glory that also defines AURUM.
From day one, AURUM was built to perform at the highest level of competition — a brand designed around the question: what would Contador and Basso have wanted to race on at the peak of their careers? In 2021, just a year after its creation, AURUM became the official bike of the EOLO-KOMETA Cycling Team, a UCI ProTeam developed under the Fundación Alberto Contador.
That same year, AURUM made its Grand Tour debut with the MAGMA model — and immediately left its mark: Lorenzo Fortunato triumphed on the iconic slopes of Monte Zoncolan, delivering AURUM its first major win just 221 days after its launch, making it the youngest bike brand ever to win a Grand Tour stage.
Two years later, in 2023, the MAGMA struck again: Davide Bais claimed victory atop Gran Sasso d’Italia, ending a long breakaway with an epic stage win. Three starts in the Giro, two wins — a remarkable track record.
In 2024, the team stepped up its ambitions by partnering with the legendary Italian brand Polti, becoming Team Polti Kometa. They raced with heart and grit through all 21 stages, although victory eluded them this time. The edition was dominated by a masterful performance from Tadej Pogačar, who took his first Giro title before completing a historic Giro-Tour double.
Now, in 2025, both the AURUM brand and the professional team take another step forward. Under the name Team Polti VisitMalta, they’ve once again received a wild card invitation from Giro organizers — and will be back on the start line on May 8.
For AURUM, being part of a team competing at this level means having an unparalleled testing ground. There are no better product testers than the riders who push their bikes to the absolute limit. Thanks to this feedback, the flagship model, MAGMA, continues to evolve. This will be the second Giro appearance for the MAGMA Gen 2, a carbon race bike designed to meet modern demands: improved aerodynamics, UDH dropout, T47 threaded bottom bracket, and clearance for up to 35mm tires — ready for any challenge, any terrain.
AURUM’s commitment to the Fundación Alberto Contador project is unwavering. And together with Team Polti VisitMalta, the goal is clear: to chase that long-awaited third stage victory in the world’s most romantic Grand Tour.
