AURUM and the Alberto Contador Foundation join forces in support of ‘Bicis para la Vida by ŠKODA’

Cycling is much more than a sport; it can also be a tool for social change and for improving people’s quality of life. AURUM and the Alberto Contador Foundation strengthen their ties by initiating a strategic collaboration with the ‘Bicis para la Vida by ŠKODA‘ project, promoted by the institution created by the former Madrid cyclist. As part of this collaboration, AURUM will provide financial support that will expand the reach of donations and allow them to reach more people.

 

‘Bicis para la Vida by ŠKODA’ was born during the 2012 Vuelta a España with the aim of collecting unused bicycles to be allocated to collectives and communities at risk of social exclusion. In 2018, the Czech automaker ŠKODA increased its collaboration with the project, enabling it to grow in strength, autonomy, and capacity. Since its inception, over a thousand bicycles have been distributed in various locations in the Peninsula and abroad (including Morocco, Senegal, and Uganda).

Furthermore, AURUM’s ambassador, María Salvo, will be part of the upcoming major bicycle donation that ‘Bicis para la Vida by ŠKODA’ will carry out in the Moroccan High Atlas, a solidarity trip scheduled to take place in September. Through her firsthand experiences during this journey, her testimony will shed light on how the second life of these bicycles can transform lives, particularly in isolated or remote geographical locations, where a bicycle becomes an essential means of transportation for both children and adults in their daily lives, whether it’s going to school, fetching water, or fulfilling other basic needs.
